Why Zidane?

The hell? What was Zidane doing? What did that Italian say to fire him up so?

Watching SBS tonight (night after the final this morning), old mate Les Murray said the French media had it reported that its was a racial comment, something to do with his Middle Eastern heritage. Although, not too sure how accurate this would be from the French media, as old Muzza also stated. But whatever the comment, Zidane's reaction was shocking.

Anyway, thats soccer for me now for another 4 years. Back to the AFL and NRL.

Ah, I guessed it could have been a remark against his Algerian heritage... He's not completely Algerian though...

Zidane emmigrated from Algerian to the French slums when he was just a boy. He's a bit of a poster child there as a rags to riches first generation immigrant.

So i'm guessing that his mother is Algerian.

Oh and apparently the Italian said something to the tune of "Dirty terrorist", which he denies claiming he didn't even know the word terrorist.

una stronsa terorista, due to the fact that his old cheese hales from Algeria. Word has it - at least in the spanish media - that the italian media aren't touching it, and it doesn't even get a mention in a single newspaper. On a lighter note - i was in barcelona on the night of the final. fucking huge party in the streets. can only imagine how fucking off tap it would have been in Italia!

I was going to say, if it's anything like Spanish, the Italian word for terrorist would be damn similar to the word in English, and probably French (and other languages that fancy Latin). And who said the Roman Empire did nothing bar destroy cultures?
